Can anyone recommend a good ESP32 board with SD card?

#1

I’m writing up a review of boards with an integral SD card socket that work well with uLisp. Although there are ARM M0, ARM M4, RP2024, and RISC-V boards with SD cards, and I’m finding it hard to find any ESP32 boards in this category.

Can anyone recommend any currently available ESP32 (or ESP32-S2) boards with a built-in SD card interface?

No PSRAM but it’s pretty good. I have the black version with the clicky micro sd card socket but it’s functionally equivalent.

David, how are you?

I use ESP32 which are have SD-connector, TFT and touchscreen. All these works well. May be it will be useful.

Here is units with PSRAM

Obviously, T-Deck has a μSD card socket, and is ESP32-S3. How specifically do you mean ESP32? As in ESP32-(S1) or any Espressif LXn CPU? Also, do you need SD specifically or is μSD okay? Lastly, does it need PSRAM as well?

The short answer is that LilyGo has a few, Adafruit has a few, Waveshare has a few, CrowdSupply has a bunch, Tindie has a bunch, and Lectronz has a bunch, on top of the ones already mentioned (Ali is a good place to go looking for SBCs, even just to find things to source elsewhere if you’d rather not buy from Ali).

Looking around, I can recommend any of the following, depending on needs:

BTW, highly recommend the Metro ESP32-S3, tons of IOs, uSD, and shield-compatibility is always a nice-to-have. If you want smaller, take a look at Unexpected Maker’s Feather S3 or Pro S3. Both are also 16MB flash + 8MB psram loadouts.

Adafruit Metro and UM Feather boards seem to be my most-common dev / prototyping SBCs, they’re just rock-solid designs with loads of features and still relatively low cost.
