Site can't be reached

Hello,

I hope this message finds you well. Recently, I’ve encountered an error when attempting to connect to https://www.ulisp.com/ from both my Android-based phone and my Ubuntu Linux machine using Chrome:

To resolve this issue, I’ve found that navigating to http://forum.ulisp.com/ and clicking on the Home link allows me to access the content under https://www.ulisp.com/. While this workaround is effective, I’m uncertain whether it’s related to the SSL certificate.

It would be preferable to be able to directly access the ulisp site without needing this detour.

Best Regards,

I also noticed that. All of the *.ulisp.com domains are HTTP not HTTPS, even the forums — which means that for the forums, it a) gives me a scary warning “This site is not secure, hackers may be trying to steal your password” when I try to login, and b) since it’s not a secure origin the browser disables the option to have push notifications.

What would it take to get an SSL certificate in place for at least the forums, if not all of *.ulisp.com?

Thanks for the comments.

Yes, www.ulisp.com and forum.ulisp.com are both HTTP, not HTTPS. I don’t have an Android phone, but surely there’s a way to connect to an HTTP website from Android.

I host www.ulisp.com on my own server. I can’t see any benefit in www.ulisp.com being HTTPS, and it would be a major upheaval for me to change that, so I have no plans to do it. It’s not just a case of getting an SSL certificate.

I host forum.ulisp.com on DigitalOcean, so it would be possible to convert it to HTTPS, and I can see @dragoncoder047’s argument for doing so. However, I don’t really have the time or resources to do it. Can you live with a scary warning?

Hi,

Thanks a lot for your feedback.

I was able to add the http site to the local Android desktop and now it works!

At the end it will only fail if you search in Google ulisp and try to open the resulting link. It just refuses to open or bypass the error.

Best Regards
